BEN Simmons was one rebound shy of a triple-double, recorded a line that had never been achieved by a rookie in his playoff debut, and led his team to a blowout win.

Still, his eyes are looking ahead.

“I’m ready to play the next game,” Simmons said when asked about his performance.

“I feel good, but I’m not satisfied. I’m looking forward to the next game.”

“Playing a team like the Heat, you have to come in and be locked in the whole game,” Simmons said. “There are no breaks. That’s the biggest difference I’ve noticed with this first game and the regular season. You’ve got to be locked in the whole game.”

It was the 17th straight victory for the 76ers, who were led by an extraordinary shooting effort. As a team, the 76ers shot 18-of-28 from downtown, led by J.J. Redick’s 28 points.

“},{“contentType”:”HTML”,”html”:”

Marco Belinelli was instrumental off the bench for the 76ers, posting 25 points, while Ersan Ilyasova had 17 points and 14 rebounds of his own.

For the Heat, Kelly Olynyk finished with a team-high 26 points, to go with seven rebounds.

Simmons’ line marks the first time in NBA history that a rookie has achieved those statistical feats in his playoff debut, according to Basketball Reference. The 21-year-old’s 14 assists was also the second most in NBA history by a player in his playoff debut, according to Elias.

Ben Simmons finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, and 14 assists, in the Philadelphia 76ers’ 130-103 win over the Miami Heat.

Patty Mills posted five points and three assists, as the San Antonio Spurs dropped Game 1 to the Golden State Warriors, falling 113-92.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS 92 – 113 GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

“},{“contentType”:”HTML”,”html”:”

Kevin Durant led the way with 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as the Golden State Warriors returned to their old dominant selves at playoff time to beat the cold-shooting San Antonio Spurs 113-92 on Saturday.

“},{“contentType”:”HTML”,”html”:”

Durant, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson took charge in Game 1 of the first round series to elevate the Warriors’ intensity; playing without fellow All-Star and injured two-time MVP Stephen Curry, sidelined since March 23 with a sprained left knee.

“},{“contentType”:”HTML”,”html”:”

Thompson found his rhythm and scored 27 points, making 11 of 13 shots, while 7-footer JaVale McGee started in Steve Kerr’s center-by-committee approach and contributed 15 points, four rebounds and two blocked shots in 16 minutes.

MIAMI HEAT 103 – 130 PHILADELPHIA 76ERS

“},{“contentType”:”HTML”,”html”:”

Ben Simmons had 17 points, 14 assists and nine rebounds in his playoff debut, and Philadelphia romped again without Joel Embiid, beating Miami for its 17th straight win.

“},{“contentType”:”HTML”,”html”:”

Embiid was a spectator in Game 1 of the first-round series because of a broken orbital bone around his left eye. The All-Star center has been hopeful he can return early in the series. The Sixers could end this one early with Embiid back in the lineup.

“},{“contentType”:”IMAGE”,”link”:”https://cdn.newsapi.com.au/image/v1/4720d578aa34bf321da7998400cc62fc”,”title”:”Philadelphia 76ers’ Ben Simmons.”,”originalSource”:”AP”,”width”:650,”height”:488},{“contentType”:”HTML”,”html”:”

Simmons dished and dazzled in the paint and the Heat had no answer for Sixers reserves Marco Belinelli and Ersan Ilyasova. Belinelli and Ilyasova combined to hit four 3-pointers in the third quarter that helped shift the tone from physical and foul-filled to a long-distance game that allowed the Sixers to put away this one. They used a 15-0 run in the third in their first postseason game in five seasons under coach Brett Brown to get the rout rolling. JJ Redick scored 28 points to lead the Sixers, who host Game 2 on Monday. Belinelli had 25 and Ilyasova 17.
